Hi,

I've shut down tapatalk access on the board. It revealed the real-life email of one of our users and that is Just Not Okay. I'm sorry for any inconvenience, but privacy is more important than using a handy app on the phone.

Yikes, I'm glad you caught it!

Question: Are there any alternatives that are still enabled? Or should we just use the cell phone web browser?
I'm always game for some jedi hugs! Or adorable animals of all shapes and sizes :)

Web browser. I haven't set up anything else. If you know of anything you deeply love I'll consider it.

Yikes! If you're able to say, how did you or the user find out this happened? I use TapATalk to participate on a second forum but I don't know how I'd find out if my real life email was compromised on that board. What was TapATalk's response about it?

Thank you for your quick work!

Hi grace, good question - it shouldn't be an issue on the other forum. You can PM a member of the mod team with any further questions, but it's a rather rare glitch.
I live on a boat in the wilderness, so everything I write here is typed on a phone. Make of any grammar/spelling mistakes what you will; I've noticed them too and forgiven them

Goat Lady has expressed that this is an accessibility issue for her - http://friendsofcaptainawkward.com/foru ... 068#p92068.

As an appreciator of her work here (and imagining that she's not the only one with this issue), can alternatives be explored (I don't fully know what Tapatalk does, but I found http://www.forumrunner.net/ after some googling?) or the possibility of re-enabling Tapatalk with giant warnings?

Do you mean giant warnings on the site, or tapa talk. Because, I'm guessing that one doesn't have to use tapa talk to risk having their email reveled if the app was taken down.
I fuss over details, loath absolute/blanket statements, and probably over think everything I do.

I meant on the site - I assumed the problem was that if you use Tapatalk, it might reveal your email publicly. But if the problem is that if Tapatalk is enabled, others' emails are revealed, that does seem trickier.

I'm afraid it's a 'use Tapatalk and another's details are potentially revealed' so at the moment reenabling it isn't an option. We'd love to find another alternative, so please do post suggestions, because we know this is an accessibility issue. We're also (hopefully) going to be in contact with Tapatalk. As cw stated, potentially comprimising people's security is just so Not OK that at the moment we haven't any other option. Thank you for understanding, everyone, I know this is far from ideal on any front.

Not sure if this would work? I always hated tapatalk when I ran a forum, so used themes instead. I can't speak as to the accessibility though
