On another forum I frequent we had an issue with spammers posting explicit pictures together with their links to porn sites.
As a result bb-code was disabled for new users until the fifth post.
This seems to have reduced the number of spammers.
So far I've only seen links from the spammers here, but there's a lot of them.
Would blocking new posters from posting links and pictures for a few posts be something worthwhile for this forum?

or maybe a captcha for the first 10 postings? That may help against spambots

Re: Dealing with spammers
Or just have new user posts sent straight to moderation. I've been on boards (years ago) that did this. Don't know how successful it was. It was something like the first post or more, if you posted again, before being taken off of moderation.
I fuss over details, loath absolute/blanket statements, and probably over think everything I do.

Thank you everyone!
I'm sadly low on tech skills, but the team is looking at what we can do. Thanks again!

The difference between the truth and a lie is that both of them can hurt, but only one will take the time to heal you afterward.
