suggestion to change triggery subforum title
suggestion to change triggery subforum title
It's great that we now have a subforum that deals with issues of harassment and discussing the harassment policy. However, everytime my eyes hover over the title of the subforum "I'm being harassed!", I jump, because some part of me reads this as an expression of something that's actually happening right now. Maybe it's just me, but the way it's expressed in 1st person active voice + progressive form makes my brain go "OMG, someone needs my help RIGHT NOW! Bad things are happening to a real human being RIGHT NOW!". Maybe there's a way to rephrase the title of the subforum to get rid of that effect?
Maybe "about our harassment policy" or "harassment policy discussion" would be better suited?

Thank you for suggesting it, mooocow. And thank y'all for letting us know that it's appreciated. Sometimes it is helpful to hear about things from perspectives not our own.

Re: suggestion to change triggery subforum title
Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I'm finding that "I need help!" spurs a similar reaction in me, and also that it might imply a level of help that an internet forum isn't necessarily equipped to give, which perhaps encourages some people (including myself, in the past) to post things that might be better suited to the Jedi Hugs or Concert Hall subforums. Even just "I need advice!" would be a major improvement, in my opinion.

Hi Evelyn,
thank you for the input. We appreciate it and we'll think about it.

The difference between the truth and a lie is that both of them can hurt, but only one will take the time to heal you afterward.
