Re: Fat acceptance vs. rules
I am really glad this conversation is happening. I appreciate why the rules are in place, and I am not lobbying for them to be changed, but it's nice to know others are thinking about this too. Redheadedtwit, like you describe, when I was growing up, my mother had her Current Weight, and her Ideal W...

Re: Heads up! Abusive user
Hugs offered to all the mods. I remember contributing to one of those now-locked threads. My heart goes out to this person, wherever they may be, and I hope something changes for them soon.

How about a "I have a Sad" thread?
For things that aren't really right for "minor annoyances" ? Or is the definition of annoyance broad enough to cover sad things? I don't know, I have a sad but it doesn't really feel like an annoyance.

I continue to learn things from the twitter account Everyday Ableism. https://twitter.com/EverydayAbleism
They are UK based, so that may be more helpful for some and less helpful for others, but they have a global following and often host brilliant discussions of issues with wide reach.

Re: Thread necromancy
I have resurrected a few threads in the past year. No one seems to mind. Especially with things like support groups, it might be best to resurrect, so people can build from previous posts. Not a mod, so y'know, I'm not an authority figure or anything.

Re: TW tags and bad language: A Discussion
I can find no fault with anything you said, CodaSammy, I'm just left with this feeling like ... maybe the most affected should make the rules? Of course I have no idea how to enforce that any better than the way things are right now. It starts to get into really unhelpful murky areas like trying to ...

Re: TW tags and bad language: A Discussion
I definitely see your point and it's a good one. The reclaiming argument is a tough one for me. I sort of ask myself "Is the potential benefit I could get from this word higher than the potential damage it could do to someone else?" In the case of ableist language specifically though, is there even ...
