Re: Heads up! Abusive user
Chiming in- I feel like I'm in the running for "quietest mod" but I'm a pretty good listener and also here to listen or talk to anybody who needs an inbox. (That goes for anything, but this situation is particularly relevant.)

Re: Another BBCode Suggestion
I get that people are volunteer coders and not necessarily pros, but it does mean that they're also not familiar with the cross-platform access problems that can be created by "this is a cool idea". And if the goal of this community is to be maximally welcoming, then access issues need to be consid...

Re: When modding from a report, should we say that's why?
The reason we're asking is that we have been getting complaints, and several users have said they feel like we're modding based on our own preferences. In fact, mod actions usually start with a report from a user who is not a mod. Mods sometimes notice a violation of the rules, and sometimes mods ar...

Re: TW tags and bad language: A Discussion
Oh, gosh, not at all what we mean! But if we're not conveying that, then of course we need to re-examine how we handle tw-s and edits.
As for your other questions, I'll make sure the mods see them and get the Official response for you.

Please Note: In this post, I am speaking only as an individual. I am not speaking for other mods, or on behalf of the Mod/Admin team. I reference some policies we have agreed upon as a group, with the approval and/or input of the board users, but opinions and reasons are mine alone. Other people do...

TW tags and bad language: A Discussion
By request, this thread is to discuss how the mods deal with ableist language on the board. I used the phrase "bad language" in the thread title because while the original request was about ableist language, the same policies apply to any -ist langauge. In another thread, Susannah wrote: TheR.J., co...

Re: Official policy for handling problematic language?
Adelene, we're working on this, but the mods and admins all have careers and lives outside this board. Thanks for your patience!
Edit: There is extensive 101 material on this word in the Decolonize Your Language thread in the 101 section.

Re: Success Stories
It's definitely the Captain Awkward influence that helped me come out with a "WOW" in a voice that stopped traffic when someone said something racist in my presence. I silenced the whole restaurant. We need a like button :) We're getting one! I believe it'll come in the form of a "thanks" button.
